#49, OBESITY, on page 108
1. MY OPINION OF POSSIBLE PROBLEMS:
a. Being overweight increases the risk for many health problems, some of which are: heart disease, diabetes, stroke, sleep apnea, etc. According to the JAMA study, 300,000 deaths in the United States each year can be attributed to being overweight.

2. MY OPINION OF POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS:
a. Lose weight.
b. See # 39, Light – Outdoor.

3. BOOKS:
a. The False Fat Diet by Elson M. Haas, M.D., about allergies and how they cause weight gain.
b. Discover Wellness by Phyllis Taber-Greenberg, gives a multitude of reasons for weight gain and how to correct them.

4. PEOPLE AND PRODUCTS:
a. Alcat Allergy Testing, American Medical Testing Laboratories, see #29 in the back of this book under People and Products.
b. Metabolic Solutions at Life Extension, pills to inhibit over insulin production. When insulin is in the blood stream, fat is always stored, it cannot be burned. See # 39 in the back of this book under People and Products.

5. MY EXPERIENCES AND OPINION:
This is such a huge problem and everyone has written a book on how to solve it. I have read them all and tried them all and never had any successes. I had thyroid blood tests taken a half dozen times from the time I was thirty years old to now. They always showed low normal, although I had every symptom of a deficient thyroid. I did alternative medicine, T3 series (see #66, Thyroid), had low body temperatures using the Barnes Basel Temperature Test (see #66, Thyroid), and even took natural (pig) thyroid medication in my 50's but stopped after a few months due to mental problems it was causing. I took Synthroid medication from
a medical doctor when in my 30's but stopped after a few months because there was no change. Finally at age 59, with symptoms screaming, the thyroid test showed a deficiency and a local endocrinologist prescribed thyroid for me, .05 mg. of Levolux. By this time I was 60 pounds overweight with thinning hair and NO energy. Since the Thyroid had not worked when I was in my 30's and knowing that I react very badly mentally to hormones, I was reluctant to start on it, so I did not. In so far as food goes, I do not eat starches or sugar. I do eat protein, eggs, vegetables, and fruits. I eat 4 small meals a day, watching portions. I keep the portions small. For instance, I would have one large egg scrambled in olive oil for breakfast. I do not buy extra large or jumbo eggs, and just coat the pan with olive oil making sure there is not any excess oil in the pan. For fruit, I would have some fresh grapes or ½ of a grapefruit. Lunch was always a fresh green salad with chicken or salmon, and dinner was vegetables and protein (beef, pork, chicken, turkey, lamb) but always a piece no larger than the palm of my hand. At mid afternoon I would have a small piece of protein, maybe nuts and a few grapes and tea without cream or sugar as a pick up. I eat nothing after dinner, until breakfast the next morning. I try to keep calories around 1200. I drink water in between meals. After each meal I will have green tea with either peppermint or licorice tea added. Of course, almost all foods are Organic. I might add that any time I eat starch or sugar, the scale will be up one pound the next morning. If you don't know what a starch or sugar food is, get a good book that describes them, and read labels. Instead of concentrating on what you cannot eat, it is easier to know that you are safe with eating just, meat, fish, foul, eggs, fruits, and vegetables. If I didn't lose weight for awhile, then I would stop the fruit for awhile. I think it is also important to balance the acid and alkaline content of food. With a few exceptions, all fruits and vegetables are alkaline, and all fish, foul, meat, eggs, and dairy, are acid. I always eat both together to get a balance. I am allergic to dairy, so cannot eat it. With this way of eating, I am able to maintain my weight, and not gain. I also do three activities a week outside, getting the full spectrum of the sun light. A two mile walk on the beach occupies two mornings, and one morning at the driving range hitting golf balls for an hour. This particular program works for me. It might not for you. Of course, this is the program I use after all of the other things in this book were done to create a healthy environment to live in, including taking the mercury silver dental amalgams (fillings) out of my mouth, finding and eliminating electromagnetic fields from my environment, and changing all the toxic things in the house, including bedding, & cleaning supplies, and installing air and water filters, etc. I am convinced that the electrical fields in my mouth (see# 24) hindered the proper functioning of my pineal and thyroid glands thereby causing a huge problem with obesity my entire life. I recently (2002) had the Alcat Allergy Tests taken (done with blood) and discovered an allergy to dairy and coffee. Needless to say I was eating both in huge amounts. I have stopped both. I also recently (2002) had blood tests taken at the Metabolic Solutions at Life Extension, to discover the insulin levels in my blood. It is now a known fact that fat cannot be burned if there is insulin circulating in the blood stream. The result was an over abundance of insulin. I started taking their pills for that problem, and have lost 8 pounds in 4 weeks. Both of these test require blood that can be drawn at your local laboratories and sent to them for analysis and then you can be treated via telephone and mail.

1. MY OPINION OF POSSIBLE PROBLEMS:
a. Could be causing skin cancer.
b. LACK of it could be contributing to OBESITY & ALZHEIMER’S

2. MY OPINION OF POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS:
a. Use skin lotions with U.V. protection when outdoors.
b. Spend time outdoors in full spectrum sunlight.

3. BOOKS:
a. Light, Medicine of the Future by Jacob Liebermann, O.D., PhD.

4. PEOPLE AND PRODUCTS:
a. The Sun, as created by God.

5. MY EXPERIENCES AND OPINIONS:
Now, to the importance of the Sun. A book that I consider a MUST READ is Light, Medicine of the Future by Jacob Liebermann, O.D., Ph.D. It is listed in the back of this book (see recommended Reading). I believe its message is vital if we are to be healthy. As a matter of fact, I will say it differently. I believe that we cannot be healthy without the full spectrum of the Sunlight! The ancients knew this as have all healing practitioners up to the present time. God, when he created us, left only one opening into our bodies that sunlight can penetrate into, and that is through the pupils of our eyes. The sun is composed of visible and invisible waves. Our bodies are designed in such a manner that we need to be exposed to ALL of the sun's rays, which for the purpose of this book will be called "full spectrum sunlight (fss)." Well, the fss cannot pass through glass! Therefore, windows in your houses and work places, cars, planes, buses and trains, glasses and sun glasses - all block out part of the sun's needed waves. Now, if you open those windows and remove those sun glasses, the sun's waves can penetrate through your pupils and interact with your pineal, pituitary and hypothalamus as God had originally designed them to. The following lengthy quote comes from the book Light, Medicine of the Future by Jacob Liberman, O.D., Ph.D., and is attributed to Dr. Zane R. Kime, M.D., Swannanoa Health Report, Issues 2&3 and reprinted here with permission from the publishers, Bear and Company in Sante Fe, New Mexico, 1-800-932- 3277.

"The eyes, which are actual extensions of the brain, are more intricate and complex than any humanly conceived system to date. To illustrate this point the space shuttle Columbia, with its 5.2 million parts, could be compared to a single eye, containing 137 million photoreceptors and more than l billion total parts. Although the eyes and brain represent only 2% of body weight, they require 25% of our nutritional intake. The eyes alone use one-third as much oxygen as the heart, need ten to twenty times as much vitamin C as the joint capsules involved in the movement of our extremities, and require more zinc (our intelligence chemical) than any other organ system in the body. Housing 70% of the body's sense receptors, the eyes are the entry point for approximately 90% of all the information we learn in a lifetime (with the exception of blind people, who receive much of their knowledge from their other senses). As a matter of fact, of the three billion messages relayed to the brain every second, two billion are sent from the eyes. The posterior third of the brain, which houses the memory bank and much of our intelligence, is also the portion of the brain used for vision. Let us look at how our eyes use their basic nutritional food: LIGHT. Since vision is truly our navigational system, taking in more information per unit of time and from a broader area of space than any of our other senses, it would be useful to examine how our eyes use light to accomplish this task. As mentioned earlier, each eye contains 137 million photoreceptors. There are approximately 130 million photoreceptors called rods and seven million called cones. Cones, which function primarily in the daylight, are concerned with visual acuity and color discrimination at high intensities of illumination; Rods, which function primarily in twilight, are mostly concerned with colorless vision and movement at low levels of illumination. These photoreceptors transform light into electrical impulses that are then sent to the brain at approximately 234 miles per hour. These impulses travel along several different routes that involve the entire brain. Some travel to the visual cortex for the construction of images, while others travel to the brain's hypothalamus and affect our vital functions. Although vision is perhaps our most dynamic process, constantly changing in accordance with our mental and physical states, most of us, including scientists and health-care practitioners, think of the eyes as having only a single function: eyesight. Most of us are not aware that eyesight is merely a small aspect of that dynamic process known as vision. We are much less aware that our eyes, as the major access routes by which light enters the body, can be mirrors of our general and emotional health as well as accurate indicators of our styles of thinking and learning. This is extremely important inasmuch as this ancient, yet newly discovered, connection between the eyes and the core of the brain functions as the link that bonds us with nature.

However, it wasn't until the early 1970s that science was able to prove definitively that light entering the eyes was not just for the purpose of vision but was also being sent to one of the most important parts of the brain, the hypothalamus. When we speak about health, balance, and physiological regulation, we are referring to the functions of the body's major health keepers: the nervous system and the endocrine system. These major control centers of the body are directly stimulated and regulated by light, to an extent far beyond what modern science, until recently, has been willing to accept. Although the body's state of balance is constantly regulated by the autonomic nervous system, the ANS itself is merely carrying out the orders of that very important part of the brain, the hypothalamus.

The hypothalamus, which receives light energy by way of our eyes, coordinates and regulates most of our life-sustaining functions and also initiates and directs our reactions and adaptations to stress. The hypothalamus is composed of two major zones. One zone controls the sympathetic nervous system and stimulates hormone production, while the other zone controls the parasympathetic nervous system and inhibits hormone production. As the body's major collecting center for information concerned with its well-being, the hypothalamus receives all external information picked up by our sense organs and all internal signals from the autonomic nervous system as well as the psyche. Its major functions include control of the autonomic nervous system, energy balance, fluid balance, heat regulation, activity and sleep, circulation and breathing, growth and maturation, reproduction, and emotional balance. Thus, the hypothalamus may be the single most important unit of the brain, standing as high command in maintaining harmony within the body. Information received by the hypothalamus is also used to control the secretions of the pituitary gland, thereby significantly affecting the body's other major regulatory system, the endocrine system. In general, the endocrine system regulates the physical and chemical processes involved in the overall maintenance of life (metabolism), as well as the varying rates of chemical reactions within each of our cells. It does this by secreting chemical messengers called hormones directly into the blood stream. Once in the blood stream, these chemical messengers circulate to all parts of the body and affect certain specific target cells that are capable of decoding their messages. The endocrine system consists of the following glands: pituitary, pineal, thyroid, parathyroid, thymus, adrenals, pancreas and gonads. For millions of years, life on Earth evolved under the constant influence of natural sunlight. People have always felt and recognized their connection with light. Its effects were so profoundly obvious to ancient cultures that they revered the sun as a god, blessing it daily for its gifts. The Sun, once considered a god, has recently been found guilty of numerous crimes and is now thought to be armed and dangerous. The public is warned: Be cautious. Keep the sun out of your eyes, and protect yourself at all times. This blocking of ultraviolet rays may severely weaken the body's defenses. According to photobiologist Dr. John Ott, there are strong indications the UV light through the eyes stimulates the immune system. There is no question that UV light in large amounts is harmful; however, in trace amounts, as in natural sunlight, it acts according to Ott, as a "life-supporting nutrient" that is highly beneficial. For millions of years, humans have evolved under sunlight, which contains ultraviolet radiation. Now, science has determined that God may have made a mistake and that all UV light is harmful. Dr. Ott is the first to agree that too much UV light is bad, but, he says "we need a basic amount to support life and maintain a healthy immune system." He adds, "All wavelengths of sunlight are beneficial." The most "biologically active" part of sunlight is the ultraviolet. It is absolutely critical for optimal health."

I now spend some time each day in the sun, and I have since I read this book years ago. I do enjoyable things such as walking my dog, shopping in open strip centers, walking along the beach, sitting in my whirlpool spa, hitting golf balls or sitting on my screened porch (fss will go through screens) and reading. I would like to state here that I do agree with modern medicine that laying in the sun and baking for hours is harmful. I do not do that. My exposures are 15 to 30 minutes and I do wear a sunscreen. I have also become healthy!!! Please do yourself a favor and get the book entitled, Light, Medicine Of The Future and read it. Make your own decisions. It might be the best decision that you have ever made.

Here is another little tid bit for thought. Maybe the full spectrum of the sun’s light penetrating the pupils and entering the brain has a lot to do with MEMORY, SENILITY, OBESITY, etc. If you think about it, years ago people worked outside in their gardens, rode horses or walked before automobiles were invented, and did not have sun glasses, glasses or contact lenses. Women hung clothes outside on a line to dry and everyone did their own yard work. They also lived into old age with their FULL MENTAL FACILITIES. They died of old age but they had their wits about them.

That was before this last 80 years or so of everyone driving automobiles with glass windows and wearing glasses and sun glasses, not to mention contact lenses. And outside of the farmers, who gardens anymore? When are people outside on a daily basis year in and year out? Look at our country now, and you see people from 60 on up with alzheimers etc. The nursing homes are full of older people who have some form of senility, alzheimers, memory deterioration etc. Middle aged children are now caring for older parents unable to think and care for themselves. I ask why now? There must be a reason. Could it be that they have not had enough of the full spectrum sunlight enhancing their brains daily. And I mean daily, every day of their life of 60,70,80 or 90 years. There could be a connection!! And what about OBESITY? The connection between the hypothalamus, the pituitary gland, the thyroid gland, metabolism and full spectrum sunlight (fss) has been established. Take a look at people that spend time outdoors every day. They are almost always NOT OBESE. The more common opinion has been that they are physically active, therefore not obese. But people are physically active indoors and still have terrible weight problems. So, maybe the more correct reason that people that spend time outdoors are NOT OBESE is that they are getting the full spectrum sunlight!!!

#16, COMPUTER FATIGUE, on page 50
1. MY OPINION OF POSSIBLE PROBLEMS:
a. Mental and physical fatigue including eyes wanting to close. To be exact you can't keep your eyes open, your body feels like a wet wash rag, your arms and legs feel limp, and your mind is spacey.

2. MY OPINION OF POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS:
a. Put a Unified Technology Quantum Monitor on your computer.

3. BOOKS:
a. Discover Wellness by Phyllis Taber-Greenberg

4. PEOPLE AND PRODUCTS:
a. Unified Technologies 1-800-667-0231.

5. MY EXPERIENCES AND OPINIONS:
Whenever I worked on my computer I would become so tired that I had to stop. This would happen in as short a time as a half hour. If I worked on the computer in the morning, the fatigue was so severe that I would have to lie down for the rest of the day. I often wonder how many people go to work feeling wonderful, work on their computer all day, and come home totally wiped out, and think they are tired because they put in a full day at work, not realizing that it is the electro-magnetic fields from their computers that are knocking them out. See the subject "Electro Magnetic Pollution, #25." Since I bought one and connected it to my computer I have been able to work on the computer as long as I desire, and have absolutely NO fatigue. As a matter of fact, I feel energized. I have worked as long as 10 hours straight only stopping to eat and have had NO symptoms of fatigue. I can't rave enough about this product.
